High blood pressure is a common condition that can cause damage to the brain, heart, blood vessels, kidneys and other parts of the body. Damage to these organs may cause heart disease, a heart attack, heart failure, stroke, kidney failure, loss of vision, and other problems. Lifestyle changes can also help control blood pressure. These lifestyle changes include eating a low-fat diet, a low salt diet, exercising regularly for at least 30 minutes a day, quitting smoking, and drinking moderately.
You can swallow the tablets whole by drinking water with or without food. To help you remember, it is best to take the tablets at the same time every day.
Your doctor will typically start you on the lowest possible dose for high blood pressure. The doctor may decide to increase the dosage based on your response. A maximum daily dose of 20mg is recommended. If you have liver or kidney problems, the daily maximum may be lower. You should always consult your doctor if you are taking Bisoprolol to treat other heart conditions.
You should remember to take your Bisoprolol tablets if you are late. If this happens, skip the missed dose and go straight to the next one. You don't have to worry about it, but you shouldn't increase your dose to make up the difference.
You should not take more Bisoprolol than you need. If this happens, you should immediately go to an emergency room or doctor. An overdose can cause a drop in heart rate and blood pressure as well as tightening of the chest.
