Dutasteride is a 5-alpha reductase inhibiter, and Tamsulosin is an alpha-blocker.
Dutasteride reduces the hormone dihydrotestosterone's production, which helps shrink the prostate and alleviates symptoms. It reduces the possibility of urinary retention and the need for surgery.
Tamsulosin relaxes the muscles of the prostate gland and allows the urine to flow easily.
It is important to swallow the Combodart capsule whole.
If you forget to take your Combodart dose, simply leave it out and continue with the next scheduled dose. You should not take more than one dose to make up for the missing one.

Inform your doctors that you are taking Combodart before undergoing eye surgery for cataracts. Tamsulosin can make your pupil dilate poorly and turn the iris floppy during the procedure. Letting the doctors know that you are taking Combodart will enable them to take appropriate precautions during the surgery. They may ask you to stop you from taking this medication for some time before the cataract surgery.
While taking Combodart, use a condom during sex if your sexual partner is pregnant or could become pregnant. Dutasteride in Combodart passes into the semen and could harm the development of the male foetus.
Men who are taking Combodart should not donate blood during treatment and for at least six months after stopping the treatment with this medicine.
Women, children, and adolescents should avoid contact with Combodart because Dutasteride can be absorbed through the skin.
Combodart is not be used in women, children, or adolescents under the age of 18.
Men who are allergic to other 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors such as finasteride, men who are allergic to peanuts or soya, men with a history of decreased blood pressure when moving from a sitting or lying position to sanding, and those with severely decreased liver function should not use Combodart.
Women who are breastfeeding should avoid getting in contact with this medication.
It is necessary that before you start taking Combodart, you should share with your doctor a list of all current medications you are taking to enable him to monitor for any unsafe combination with this medication.
