Cerazette prevents sperm cells from entering the womb and stops the egg cells from ripening. It protects women from pregnancy by containing a small amount of female sex hormone, progestogen desogestrel.
Cerazette help regulate a woman’s menstrual cycle or even stop severe symptoms.
There are two types of contraceptive pills: combined and progestogen-only (also known as POP). Cerazette falls into the latter category. It does not contain the hormone oestrogen making it an excellent choice for breastfeeding women or those who cannot tolerate it.
If you forget to take your pill and you did not remember it within 12 hours. Take the missed pill immediately and then the next one as usual. Your contraception will continue to work as it should.
You may not be fully protected against pregnancy if you forget to take your pills, and it has been over 12 hours. Take your pill as soon as possible.
You don't have to take more than one tablet if you forget. However, you will not be protected from pregnancy. For the next seven days, you can continue to take your pill as usual and use an additional method of contraception such as a condom.
The active ingredient might not have been fully absorbed if you vomit within 3 to 4 hours of taking your Cerazette tablet. Use additional contraception if necessary.
