However, if you've forgotten it and it's nearly time for your next dose, then leave the forgotten one and carry on as normal.
Do not take Metronidazole while your first trimester of pregnancy. Metronidazole could hurt an unborn baby, always consult your doctor before taking Metronidazole if you are pregnant.
Tell your doctor about any of the following medications you've taken to ensure this medicine is safe:
liver disease
kidney disease (or if you are on dialysis)
a heart rhythm disorder
Cockayne syndrome (a rare genetic disorder)
a stomach or intestinal disease such as Crohn's disease
a blood cell disorder such as anaemia (lack of red blood cells) or low white blood cell (WBC) counts
a fungal infection anywhere in your body, or
a nerve disorder
Like any other medicine, Metronidazole may cause the following side effects:
hives
itching
warmth or tingling
fever
joint pain
dry mouth
dry vagina
stuffy nose
difficulty in breathing
swelling in your face or throat
a severe skin reaction
Metronidazole may cause a life-threatening liver problem in people with Cockayne syndrome. If you have this condition, stop taking this medicine and contact your doctor.
