Lercanidipine is one of the calcium blockers that block calcium from entering the muscle cells, and blood vessels carry the blood away. Calcium enters these cells and causes the heart to contract and the arteries to narrow. Calcium channel blockers reduce heart contraction and dilate or expand the arteries by blocking calcium's entry.
Lercanidipine comes in two strengths, 10 mg and 20 mg, which are taken once daily. Your doctor may increase the dose to 20 mg daily if necessary. Follow the instructions of your doctor.
Most likely, your doctor will recommend that you take your medicine at the same time each day. You will be more likely to stick to a schedule and remember to take medication at the same time every day.
Swallow the Lercanidipine tablet with a glass of water. Take this medication 30 minutes before you eat. It is because fatty foods can cause your body to absorb more lercanidipine, which could lead to side effects.
You can skip a dose if you forget to take it. It is not recommended to take a second dose to make up for the dose that was missed.
