High blood pressure is a common condition that can lead to damage to the brain and other body parts. These organs can be damaged and cause problems such as heart disease, stroke, heart failure, kidney failure, vision loss, and heart attacks. Lifestyle changes can also help control blood pressure. These lifestyle changes include eating a low-fat, low salt diet, exercising regularly for at least 30 minutes a day, quitting smoking, and drinking moderately.
Your doctor might start you on a low dose and increase it gradually, not exceedingly every 2 weeks.
Nebivolol can control high blood pressure, but not cure it. It can take up to 2 weeks for blood pressure readings to show the full benefits of nebivolol. Even if you feel well, continue to take nebivolol. Talk to your doctor before you stop taking nebivolol. You should not abruptly stop taking nebivolol. This could cause angina (chest pain), irregular heartbeat, and heart attack. Your doctor may decrease your dose slowly over a period of 1 to 2 weeks.
if you are pregnant, trying to be pregnant or breastfeeding;
if you are allergic to Nebivolol or any of the other ingredients of this medicine;
if you suffer from heart failure and other heart disorders;
if you have chest pain or angina that is lasting for more than 15 minutes or is more severe than usual;
if you have liver or kidney disorders;
if you have low blood pressure;
if you are having surgery, including dental surgery; or
if you are taking any medications with active ingredients, any prescription, non-prescription or herbal medicines.
Combine your medication with a few lifestyle changes, like eating healthy, exercising regularly and avoiding excessive smoking or drinking.
Like any other medicine, Nebivolol may cause the following side effects:
difficulty falling asleep or staying asleep
numbness, burning, or tingling in the hands, arms, feet, or legs
slow heart rate
unusual weight gain
swelling of the hands, feet, ankles, or lower legs
If any of these or other side effects persist or worsen, then consult your doctor or nearest medical facility immediately.
