Zanidip works by slowing down the movement of calcium in the cells of your heart and blood vessel walls. It makes it easier for the heart to pump, while also widening your blood vessels.
Hypertension, also known as high blood pressure, can be caused by a variety of factors such as family history, a diet high in salt, being overweight, or being inactive.
To prevent further complications such as stroke, heart attack, or blood clots, lifestyle changes such as quitting smoking, drinking less, and increasing exercise are all good options.
You can take the tablets whole with water. Zanidip should be taken at the same time every day.
One 10mg tablet per day is the recommended dose. However, your doctor may increase it to 20 mg if necessary. Your doctor should be consulted if you have liver or kidney problems to determine the right dose.
You can skip the missed Zanidip tablet and go straight to the next one if you forget and it is almost time for your next dose. You don't have to double your Zanidip dose to make up for the missed one.
You should not take more Zanidip than you require. Overdoses can cause extreme dizziness, breathing problems, or weakness. It is best to lie down with your legs and arms up.
You are allergic to lercanidipine hydrochloride or to any other ingredients of this medicine or to drugs closely related to Zanidip tablets;
You have untreated heart failure, obstruction to flow of blood from the heart, unstable angina or have had a heart attack in the last month;
You have liver or kidney disorders;
You are pregnant, trying to be pregnant or breastfeeding;
You have a heart condition that has not been treated by insertion of a pacemaker or have pre-existing angina;

You can combine the medication with a few lifestyle changes such as eating healthily, exercising regularly and avoiding excessive smoking or drinking.
Do not consume grapefruit and grapefruit juice while on Zanidip, as can interact with the Zanidip and can lower your blood pressure further.
Like any other medicine, Zanidip may cause the following side effects:
Headache,

Rapid heartbeats,

Sudden reddening of the face, neck or upper chest,

If any of these or other side effects persist or worsen, then tell your doctor immediately.
