The production of oestrogen gradually ceases in women's ovaries during menopause. The deficiency may cause a variety of symptoms including hot flushes and depression, sleep problems, dryness, osteoporosis, sleep problems, depression, and sleep problems. Evorel may be prescribed to treat severe symptoms. Evorel should not be used to treat osteoporosis, unless other treatments have been tried.

Oestrogen will only be needed to replace oestrogen if you have had a Hysterectomy (an operation to remove your uterus). You will be given a progestogen medication along with Evorel if your uterus has not been removed. Because oestrogen alone can cause excessive growth of the lining (endometrium) of the uterus. This can significantly increase your chance of developing complications like endometrial carcinoma. You may be referred to another medication that provides HRT and combined HRT if you have not had your hysterectomy.

Evorel is an adhesive patch to be worn constantly until the time comes to replace it. The recommendation is to replace the Evorel patch at least twice per week, preferably every 3-4 days. It is best done on the same days each week (e.g. Monday and Thursday).

Make sure you have clean, dry skin before applying the patch. Keep your fingers clear of the sticky side and apply the patch to the skin below the thigh, lower abdomen, or bottom. Continue pressing for approximately 10 seconds. Avoid putting the patch on the waistline as it can be rubbed by clothing. Also, don't apply the patch near your breasts. You can slightly change the spot of the skin every time you change the patch to ensure that the skin does not become inflamed.

You don't need to worry about the patches being able to withstand regular activities such as exercising, bathing, and showering. Press the patch gently every time you do these activities to ensure that the patch remains in place.

You can use Evorel on any convenient day if you don't currently use any HRT or if your current HRT treatment is over.

You have to inform your doctor before using Evorel if you have or have had experienced any of the following:

fibroids inside your womb
growth of the womb lining outside of your womb
blood clots or risk of developing blood clots
