Ovex tablets contain 100 mg Mebendazole as the active ingredient.
Ovex can be used to treat the following types of worm infection in the gut:
Roundworm infections or ascariasis
Threadworm infections or enterobiasis
Whipworm infections or trichuriasis
Ovex can be used to treat these infections for both adults and children older than two years. You can either take this medicine as a tablet or in a suspension form.
Mebendazole treats threadworm by depriving the worms in the system of the sugars they require to survive. You should notice a change in your symptoms after you have taken mebendazole. The worms will begin to die within a few days.
Take a measure of 5ml of Ovex liquid using the measuring cup. Then, swallow. Talk to your doctor if your symptoms do not improve within a few days. Your pharmacist might recommend that you take a second medication if you develop a second threadworm infection. However, this should only be done if you are advised by a doctor.
You can take Ovex as directed by your doctor for other types of worm infections. Your doctor may ask you to take Ovex twice daily and for longer than three days.
Follow the instructions of your doctor when you are prescribed Ovex. Do not miss any dose. Keep taking the medication up to the end. The risk of infection recurrence is possible if you stop taking the medication early.
Liver inflammation, abnormal liver function
Reduction in white blood cells, which may lead to you getting more infections than usual
Convulsions, seizures, fits
Allergic reactions (such as wheezing, shortness of breath, swelling of your face, mouth, tongue, or throat, hives)
Skin rashes or blistering or peeling of the skin
Consult your doctor regarding the safety of using this medicine while you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
Do not treat children below two years old with Ovex Suspension.
Do not take Ovex Suspension if you have an allergy to mebendazole or any other ingredients.
This product is intended for oral use only.
