Nizoral Anti-Dandruff Shampoo is formulated in a way to relieve the symptoms of seborrhoeic and dandruff. These conditions are most common in those who have an imbalance of yeast levels on their scalp. Nizoral actively combats these conditions and prevents them from returning.
Nizoral Anti-Dandruff Shampoo 2% contains the active ingredient called Ketoconazole. It is an antifungal and anti-yeast medication that is prescribed by the doctors to treat certain scalp conditions including dandruff.
Ketoconazole binds with the hair's natural proteins and prevents yeasts from making a substance called Ergosterol. It is an essential component of fungal cell walls. It causes holes in the fungal cell membrane and allows essential components of the cell to leak out. It clears up the infection and kills the fungi, keeping dandruff at bay.
Ketoconazole-based shampoos can also be used to treat yeast pityrosporum or malassezia infections. These include the skin condition pityriasis versicolour, seborrhoeic dermatitis, and dandruff. Nizoral Anti-Dandruff shampoo also has ingredients that gently clean hair without leaving behind an unpleasant odour.
Use Nizoral Dandruff Shampoo every 3-4 days for the first 2 to 4 weeks to eliminate the first rash of dandruff. Keep using the shampoo every one to two weeks to prevent further flare-ups. Do not use the shampoo more than recommended.
