If your doctor has not instructed you otherwise, take Diclofenac with 8 ounces water. After taking this medication, you should not lay down for more than 10 minutes. You can take this medication with food, milk, or an anti-inflammatory if you have stomach problems. Food, milk, or an antacid can slow down the medication's absorption and delay pain relief.
Diclofenac should be swallowed whole. It is best to not crush, break, or chew the tablets. This can cause it to lose its coating, which can lead to more side effects.
Your medical condition, response to treatment and any other medications you are taking will determine the dosage. You should share with your doctor a complete list of any medications that you are currently taking. Side effects such as stomach bleeding can be minimised by taking the medication at a low dose for a short time. Your doctor may not recommend that you take more medication than prescribed. Continue taking Diclofenac for chronic conditions as prescribed by your doctor.
You may need to continue using this drug for up to two weeks before you start to feel its full benefits.
Diclofenac should be taken immediately if you're using it on an "as required" basis. If you wait for the pain to get worse, this medication may not be effective.
