Clobetasol propionate 0.05 is the active ingredient in Dermovate Cream. Dermovate Cream is a powerful topical corticosteroid to be used by adults, old-age people, and children above one year, for a short period to treat only more resistant inflammation and pruritic manifestations of skin conditions such as lichen planus, recalcitrant dermatoses, psoriasis and discoid lupus erythematosus that are resistant to less potent corticosteroids.
When a skin reaction or irritation causes skin inflammation, blood vessels in the skin widens, and the affected area becomes irritated and leads to skin swelling, reddening, itching, and pain. Dermovate Cream is absorbed into the skin and stops the release of inflammatory substances. It reduces inflammation and swelling, redness, itching and prevents skin irritation by scratching.
To control reappearing of the skin conditions, repeated short courses of Dermovate Cream are useful.
Do not apply it to infected or broken skin areas unless it is the area where the infection is being treated. Ensure that the cream does not get into your eyes, nose, mouth, or mouth. If you accidentally apply the cream, rinse it with cold water.
If you are not using the cream on your hands, wash your hands thoroughly after applying the cream.
If you are not directed by your doctor, don't cover the area being treated with this medication using bandages or other airtight coverings. It will increase the drug's absorption and increase the chance of side effects. Your doctor will direct you to apply a dressing to the skin after the application of the cream when necessary.
Keep taking this medication as directed by your doctor. Consult your doctor if the skin condition does not improve after two weeks.
Do not use Dermovate Cream for longer or more than prescribed by your doctor.
If the skin is infected, discontinue using this medication immediately and consult your doctor.
Consult your doctor if the condition does not improve in two weeks of the treatment. Usually, the treatment should last up to two weeks.
However, do not stop using the cream or exceed its usage without consulting your doctor.
These are some of the most common side effects that people who take this medication report. Most of these side effects can be managed and will resolve on their own. If you have any of these side effects or if they are bothersome or severe, consult your doctor. You may observe the following side effects:
Dryness, burning, irritation, itching, or redness of the skin
Eye pain when treating the skin around the eyes
Skin colour variations
Developed redness or scaling of the skin sores
Softening and tearing of the skin
Thinning of skin with easy bruising
No healing of the condition
Unusual increase in hair growth on the face or other body part
Extreme loss of hair on the scalp
Visible lines or small blood vessels under the skin
However, there may be other severe side effects including symptoms of a serious allergic reaction such as the difficulty of breathing, itching, dizziness, rash, and swelling, or symptoms of high levels of corticosteroids in the bloodstream such as fatigue, irritability, increased thirst and urination, and muscle weakness.
Corticosteroid medication such as Dermovate Cream can cause your body to react to stress more slowly than usual. If you have a severe injury or illness, it is necessary to inform your doctor that you are taking this medication.
