DermaSilk Therapeutic Clothing is a range of clothing that is is revolutionising the management of atopic eczema, dermatitis and allergic skin conditions. The unique fabric allows the skin to breathe and controls temperature and humidity to reduce itching and irritation and control flare-ups. They are designed to be used alongside them conventional treatments like emollients and steroids rather than replacing them, but you will find that your use of creams will naturally reduce as DermaSilk Therapeutic Clothing controls the eczema. 

Unlike emollient retention garments, DermaSilk Therapeutic Clothing is intended to be worn continuously as a preventative base layer of underclothing to help control eczema and reduce both the frequency and severity of eczema flares, effectively replacing normal underwear and nightwear

DermaSilk Therapeutic Clothing is made from a special knitted medical grade silk which has been stripped of its outer coating and bonded with Microbe Shield technology. It is far superior to cotton because it retains up to 30% of its own weight in moisture without feeling damp and has been clinically proven to control the symptoms of eczema far better than cotton underclothing. It is not like any other silk garments that you can buy - these have been shown in controlled clinical trials not to perform in the same way as DermaSilk Therapeutic Clothing.

DermaSilk Therapeutic Clothing maintains a stable moisture balance on the skin whether its worn on warm or cold days and all the garments in the range are capable of absorbing moisture without causing irritation to the skin. Unlike with wrapping garments, the wearer will not overheat in summer or become too cold in winter.

DermaSilk Therapeutic Clothing has natural anti-inflammatory and moisturising properties so there is no need to add softeners to the silk. Consequently only a small amount of emollient needs to be applied to the skin before it is worn so it is extremely easy to use and the garments will wash and wear repeatedly. In many cases the child will grow out of the garments before they are worn out.

Silk is a protein fibre and as such can promote the growth of bacteria and fungi which can come into contact with it, so DermaSilk Therapeutic Clothing is antimicrobially protected. The antimicrobial used only works when the fabric is actually touching the skin so that it does not wear out over time due to washing. The possibility of bacterial resistance developing is virtually zero because the shield acts by physically damaging the microbe cell walls rather than killing them by chemical toxins such as triclosan or silver. There is no migration of the antimicrobial agent from the silk to the skin so no risk of a build up of any toxic compounds on the delicate skin of the wearer. The antimicrobial is colourless and odourless

DermaSilk Therapeutic Clothing does not contain silver molecules of any sort, nor any nano-particle material. It only comes in its natural silk colour as dyes used in the manufacture might provoke allergic reactions. The range has been specially designed with soft seams with minimal stitching to prevent the thread from scratching the skin and on the smaller garments the seams are on the outside of the garments, just to make sure.
