Vaniqa is a cream made from Eflornithine, which slows down hair growth in the face and around the chin of women by making the hair grow slower, finer and lighter in colour. Eflornithine (Hydrochloride Monohydrate) block the production of Ornithine Decarboxylase (ODC) enzyme, which is required in creating Polyamines that induce rapid hair growth, without it the skin is incapable of creating hair. Vaniqa cream effectively block ODC enzymes, hence slowing down the growth of hair. However, it does not affect the hair on the rest of the body and is prohibited to use on any other part of the body.

Vaniqa cream is strictly prohibited for children below 12 years.

Clean and dry the affected area of the face or chin and put a thin layer of Vaniqa cream. Rub the cream to let it absorb into the skin thoroughly and ensure the whole cream is well absorbed and there is no residue on the treated area. Do not wet or clean the treated area for about 4 hours of using the cream. Repeat the application twice a day, with a minimum gap of 8 hours. If you intend to use sunscreen or make-up, wait for at least 10 minutes after application of the cream.

The maximum applied dosage used safely in clinical trials was at 30 grams each month.

The visible results appear in 4 to 8 weeks of regular use and a significant change is visible in 4 to 8 months. For better and long-lasting results, be consistent with usage and follow the instructions carefully. If used properly as prescribed, the hair growth will be visibly reduced.

You may stop using the cream if no visible effects are observed within 4 months of treatment. The condition can recur after 8 months of discontinued use of Vaniqa cream, in that case, you can re-start the treatment. Regular shaving/plucking does not interfere with the treatment, on the contrary, it aids in suppressing hair growth.

If you observe any side effects or signs of an allergic reaction, you must stop using the cream immediately and contact your doctor.

Do not use this cream if you have sores, wounds, or cuts in the targeted area on your chin or face. Pregnant or breastfeeding mothers must not use this cream.
