The detrusor muscle is the bladder's muscle. Sometimes, it may contract in uncontrollable spasms. This is often called an overactive bladder. Incontinence, uncontrolled urge to pass urine, and the need to pass urine can all be signs of an overactive bladder.
Mirabegron works differently from other antimuscarinic treatments for overactive bladders. Mirabegron stimulates beta3 receptors on the skin of muscle cells to relax the bladder's detrusor muscles. Relaxed bladder muscles increase bladder capacity and reduce the need for peeing.
Betmiga tablets, which are long-release tablets, release the medication gradually throughout the day.
Take the tablet whole without breaking or crushing it. You can take it with or without a meal.
To make it easier to remember when you take Betmiga, you should take it at the same time every day.
Keep taking the medication as prescribed by your doctor. Even if you don't see immediate results, do not stop taking Betmiga. Your bladder may take some time to adjust to the medication.
Betmiga can help you manage your condition, but it won't cure it. Once you stop taking the medication, your symptoms will return.
If you forget to take a dose, you can always take it right away. You might want to skip the missed Betmiga dose if it's less than 6 hours before your next dose. It is not necessary to double your Betmiga dose to make up for the missing dosage. This will increase your chance of side effects.
