Finacea gel is a rich source of the active ingredient Azelaic Acid, which have anti-inflammatory and keratin-reducing effects. Keratin, a protein that can block pores, can lead to pimples and rosacea.
Rosacea is a common condition that affects the skin of the face. It causes redness and small pimples. The reddening of the skin can become more severe over time, and blood vessels might be visible. Rosacea sufferers treat it for its physical symptoms as well as the mental effects such as self-consciousness. The cause of the condition is unknown, but Finacea gel treats it effectively.
Begin by gently washing your face with warm water and mild soap. Then, dry it with a towel. Use your hand to squeeze about an inch of the gel on your fingertip. Then, spread the gel evenly over your entire face. After using the gel, wash your hands thoroughly and then replace the cap.
Dosage: 2.5 cm (roughly one inch) of gel, twice daily, one in the morning and another at night. If you experience skin irritation, reduce the amount of gel or frequency until it is gone. Then you can resume the recommended dosage.
Treatment duration varies depending on your particular condition. The doctor can advise you how long to continue using the medication. Although it can take several months, you may notice a significant improvement in your skin's appearance after just 4 weeks. If you don't notice any improvement in your skin after 2 months, you should consult your doctor to discuss your treatment.
You can skip the missed Finacea dose and go straight to the next one if you forget. You don't have to double your dosage to make up for the one you missed.
Side effects of Finacea gel are unlikely to occur if you take in more than you should. In case of excessive usage, consult the doctor immediately.
Finacea gel does not have common side effects. However, like any other medication, it may cause the following side effects:
Discolouration of the skin
Worsening of asthma
Do not use Finacea gel if you are:
allergic to azelaic acid or any of the other ingredients of Finacea gel;
below the age of 18; and
using any other external medicated face creams or gels.
Finacea gel prescriptions can also be affected by other factors. You should inform your doctor if any of these apply to you:
you have asthma
you are pregnant or breastfeeding
you are taking other prescription or non-prescription active ingredient medicines
