Malarone is a member of the antimalarials class.
Malarone has been proven to be effective in cases where other antimalarial drugs failed.
Malarone can be used to treat or prevent malaria by killing parasites. Malarone can be used alone or with other medicines to treat malaria.
Take Malarone by mouth with food or with a fat-rich milk beverage. If you vomit after taking Malarone, repeat the dosage. Malarone can cause vomiting, so consult your doctor right away.
Malarone is bitter and should be swallowed whole. You should not chew the tablet. If you have difficulty swallowing tablets, you can crush the tablet and add condensed milk to it. Consume the whole mixture immediately and not keep any of it for later use.
Malarone dosage is determined by your medical condition, whether you are using this medication to prevent or treat malaria, your response to treatment, and how well you have taken it. Children's dosages of Malarone are determined by their body weight.
If you forget to take your medicine, you can still get it if you remember. If you do not remember until the next dose is due, skip the missed dose. Do not double the dose to make up for the missed dose. Ask your doctor for advice if you are unsure what to do after missing a dose.
The medication should be kept at room temperature, away from moisture and light, and out of reach of children.
Malarone is used to prevent malaria. One tablet should be taken once daily, one to two days before travelling to a malaria-endemic region. Then continue for 7 days.
For treatment of malaria, 4 tablets of Malarone are recommended. They should be taken orally for three days.
Malarone isn't 100% effective in preventing malaria. However, it can be used properly and in conjunction with bite prevention methods.
It is important to receive the right vaccinations.
Malaria can take up to one year to develop once you are bitten. You should see a doctor immediately if you have symptoms such as headaches, night sweats, or abdominal pain during your trip.
