Betnovate Cream reduces inflammation and relieves symptoms such as itching, swelling, redness, and irritation. It is often useful when other over-the-counter eczema remedies haven't helped or if the skin is extremely inflamed and requires more effective treatment.
Betnovate Cream is for topical use, and it helps treat dry skin conditions like eczema or psoriasis. Betnovate Cream treats skin irritations and itching. Betnovate is safe for both adults and children above one year of age. It also treats any flare-ups, even those in the face.
Betnovate Cream is often useful when other over-the-counter eczema remedies haven't helped or if the skin is extremely inflamed and requires more effective treatment. It reduces inflammation and relieves symptoms such as:
Atopic eczema
Allergic contact dermatitis
Irritant contact dermatitis
Psoriasis
Seborrhoeic dermatitis
Skin rashes caused by excessive scratching induced by itching
The outburst of hard nodules on the skin
Discoid lupus erythematosus
Erythroderma (an extreme and extensive reddening of the skin)
Severe reactions caused by insect bites and stings
Betnovate contains Betamethasone (0.1%) which is a topical corticosteroid as the active ingredient. Betnovate can be applied directly to the skin for relief. Generally, skin inflammation occurs due to allergic reactions or hypersensitivity. Betnovate works inside the skin cells to decrease inflammation. It reduces inflammation that causes redness, swelling, itching, as well as redness.
Betnovate Cream can be used on weeping and moist areas of the skin. For dry, scaly skin areas, the thicker and more greasy ointment works well. Betnovate Lotion is good for use on hairy areas.
When you begin your treatment, apply the Betnovate cream evenly and thinly to the areas affected. As soon as your condition improves, you may reduce the frequency of Betnovate or as prescribed by your doctor.
Unless you are treating the infected or the broken skin, do not apply Betnovate on an infected or broken area of the skin. If your doctor has instructed you, don't apply Betnovate Cream to facial skin. Betnovate should not be applied around your eyes or eyelids.
Avoid using Betnovate Cream if you are allergic to Betamethasone or any other ingredient of the cream. Consult your doctor before using Betnovate Cream if you have or ever had or suspects to have any of the following:
Herpes simplex, cold sores, and other viral infections
Fungal infections
Acne
Bacterial infection
Acne rosacea
Perioral dermatitis or inflammatory rash around the mouth
Widespread plaque psoriasis
Nappy rash
Itchy skin (with or without inflammation)
You should not use Betnovate Cream unless your doctor, after examining the condition, directs you to use it if you are:
having a chronic leg ulcer
having infection in a large surface area
having broken skin
treating the area near your eyes or eyelids
having a severe skin infection other than the one that is being treated
applying the cream to the thin skin on your face or children
using bandages or dressings (including the waterproof nappies or diapers of children)
Do not cover the affected area under airtight dressings or bandages, as it may increase the risk of increased absorption that may cause side effects. Waterproof nappies or diapers acts as airtight dressings.
You should apply Betnovate Cream up to the time that your doctor prescribes you to. Do not exceed the usage more than the prescribed by your doctor. Do not use it more than one or two times a week when treating the affected skin of children.
Consult your doctor and stop using the cream if the condition does not improve in two weeks or worsen.
