Betamethasone 0.1% Cream
Topical Treatment for inflamed skin with betamethasone cream or ointment is effective. The cream contains betamethasone, an active ingredient that reduces itching and redness in common skin conditions like:
- Eczema
- Psoriasis
- Dermatitis
Betamethasone cream, an unbranded generic version of Betnovate, contains the same active ingredient.
Betamethasone is a topical corticosteroid, or topical steroids. To effectively treat and manage your skin conditions, you should use topical steroids like this one in conjunction with your regular moisturiser.
Betamethasone can relieve skin inflammation and flare-ups, as well irritation and redness.
Although this is not a cure-all for your skin condition it can help to manage your symptoms and improve your quality of your life. Betamethasone can be used to treat all afflictions, from the scalp to the soles and feet.
There are many reasons that inflammation can occur, but most commonly it is due to an allergic reaction or skin irritation. Your body will release chemicals when it detects inflammation. This causes your blood vessels to enlarge, causing swelling, itching, and inflammation.
After Betamethasone is applied topically, it begins to work within your cells. It reduces inflammation chemicals and reduces swelling and redness. You can also use the cream to treat other inflammations such as allergies, irritants, and bodily reactions from insect bites or stings.
There are many preparations that contain the active ingredient Betamethasone. Betamethasone cream will be prescribed if your skin is weeping or moist. An ointment may be more suitable for dry skin as it has a smoother texture. A lotion might be better for larger areas. A scalp treatment with betamethasone is also possible.
Betamethasone can also be mixed with other ingredients to provide antibacterial, antifungal, and antibiotic treatments. Betnovate C and Fucibet are two examples. Combination formulas can be used to treat both inflammation and infections.
Most people who use Betamethasone cream or ointment won't experience any side effects. Talk to your doctor if you experience side effects. Long-term use can increase the chance of side effects. It is best to not use this medication for a long time as it can cause unwanted side effects such as excessive hair growth and thinning.
Betamethasone should not be used in children. A dermatologist can prescribe short courses that usually last no more than 2 weeks.
Some betamethasone-based medications contain antibacterial ingredients like clioquinol or neomycin, while others contain antifungal ingredients like clotrimazole. If you have an infection, these treatments may be prescribed for short-term use. These treatments should not be used for more than one week.

There are many reasons for skin inflammation, but most commonly, it is due to allergic reactions or skin irritation. The immune system will release chemicals when it detects inflammation. It causes blood vessels to enlarge, which results in itching, redness and swelling.
Betamethasone can be applied topically to the skin that causes the skin to produce less inflammation and reduce swelling. Betamethasone cream is also useful in treating other skin conditions, including allergies, irritants, body reactions to insect bites and stings, as well as rashes due to other issues.
Betamethasone cream is effective on weeping and moist areas of the skin. For dry, scaly areas of skin, the thicker and more greasy ointment works well.
Apply a small portion of Betamethasone Cream thinly to the affected skin area and reduce the frequency as you observe improvement in the infection.
Betamethasone should not be applied to broken or infected areas of the skin unless you are treating the infection in such areas. Betamethasone should not be applied to facial skin unless your doctor has instructed you to for treating the affected skin on the face. Betamethasone must not come in contact with your eyes, mouth or nose. In the event of accidental application, wash the affected area immediately with cold water.
Wash your hands well before and after applying the medication unless you are treating your hands.
Unless your doctor instructs you, do not apply airtight dressings or bandages over the area that is being treated. It increases the absorption that may lead to side effects. Apply Betamethasone to the skin under prescribed dressings. Waterproof pants and nappies act as airtight covering to increase the body's ability to absorb the medicine in children.
If your skin condition doesn't improve within two weeks, discontinue Betamethasone treatment. Talk to your doctor immediately if the condition persists or worsen.
Use a thin layer of Betamethasone on the skin and gently rub it in. Repeat this process for four weeks until you notice improvements. After the fourth week, the frequency of application should be adjusted or decreased to a less potent formulation.
Betamethasone is compatible to be used in combination with other beneficial ingredients to provide antibacterial, antibacterial, or antifungal treatment.
Betamethasone medications may contain antibacterial substances such as Clioquinol and Neomycin. Some of these medications may also contain antifungal substances such as Clotrimazole. If you have an infection, this treatment is for temporary use and is used two times a day for not more than one week.
Do not use Betamethasone Cream for a longer time to avoid unwanted side effects like thinning skin or excessive hair growth.
Betamethasone should never be used on children. If a doctor prescribes it for children, do not exceed the usage for more than two weeks.
Tell your doctor about any medications that you take, especially corticosteroid medication. You should allow several minutes between the application of Betamethasone and any other topical medication.
Apply a moisturiser to your skin 30 minutes before applying Betamethasone, it softens the skin which helps in better absorption of the medication. Betamethasone dilutes if a moisturiser is applied soon after or before applying Betamethasone.
