It contains a 5% potassium hydroxide solution which when applied to the blisters causes a reaction that stimulates the body's own immune system to attack the virus. This causes the virus to be destroyed and the blisters start to heal within a few days. They are often completely gone within a few weeks.
Molutrex is a class IIa Medical Device that is unlikely to cause any significant discomfort during use.

- Wipe excess liquid from the brush or applicator.
- Apply the liquid to the molluscum blisters once or twice a day.
- Do not apply to surrounding skin.
- Stop treating each blister once it has become inflamed (looks red and angry).
- This means that the product is working and usually happens within 2-10 days.
- The blisters will start to disappear 2-6 weeks after the inflammation.
- Molutrex is a caustic agent which can burn.
- Do not use on children under 3 years of age
- and do not use near the eyes or on broken skin.
