Zomig Rapimelt mimics the serotonin receptors and 5HT receptors found in the brain. These receptors are often activated by the naturally occurring substance serotonin, which helps to reduce blood vessel size in the brain. These receptors help to relieve migraine headaches by constricting blood vessels.
Although the cause of migraine headaches remains elusive, it is well known that migraine headaches are caused by the swelling of blood vessels in the brain.
Patients who feel sick and need to vomit following a migraine attack and can't drink alcohol found the Zomig tablet useful. This is also true for patients who are unable to swallow traditional migraine pills. After 60 minutes, the medicine provides significant relief from migraines.
If you have any questions about how to use the Zomig Rapimelt, consult your doctor. The Zomig Rapimelt is best taken orally and kept below 30°C. It has an 18-month shelf life. For more information, please refer to the product information leaflet.
You may start with a low dose of 2.5 mg and your doctor may gradually increase it up to a maximum of 5 mg. Repeat the dose after 2 hours, if the migraine persists.
Do not exceed a total of 10 mg in the next 24 hours.
The safety is not established in migraine treatments of greater than three consecutive migraine attacks in a 30 day period.
This is a prescription-only medicine.
