Chlamydia is a sexually transmitted infection caused by bacteria. Azithromycin kills bacteria because it contains macrolide antibiotics.
Although Chlamydia may not present with symptoms, it is important to get it checked quickly and treated promptly. If left untreated, the infection may spread and cause more inflammation. Sometimes, it can even cause infertility.
Azithromycin can be used to treat the infection quickly and effectively. It also prevents the infection from spreading to other people.
You should take one tablet daily and swallow it with water.
The recommended dose to treat Chlamydia is 1000mg, taken once daily. It could be given over three to five days for other conditions. Your doctor can advise.
You should remember to take your Azithromycin tablets, but if you are late do not take more than one dose of Azithromycin. Do not double the dose to make up for it.
You should consult a doctor immediately if you are taking more Azithromycin than you should. The effects could include hearing loss (reversible), nausea, and diarrhoea.
