Uniroid-HC is a versatile treatment for haemorrhoids. It is favoured by sufferers of chronic piles due to its dual-action effects - pain relief and anti-inflammatory.

This treatment is available in two forms; ointment or suppositories. The ointment is generally prescribed for external piles (however, it can be applied to internal piles with the included applicator). The suppositories are prescribed to treat internal piles.

You can buy Uniroid-HC online in both forms from HealthExpress. To begin the order process, click ‘Express Checkout’.

How does it work?

Haemorrhoids can cause very uncomfortable symptoms such as:

  • itching
  • pain
  • discharge
  • bleeding

Uniroid-HC contains cinchocaine hydrochloride and hydrocortisone. These are two active ingredients that alleviate the above symptoms.

  • cinchocaine hydrochloride - this is a local anaesthetic that will temporarily numb the area it is applied to, providing immediate relief from pain and itching
  • hydrocortisone - a corticosteroid that reduces inflammation, which is the main cause of symptoms

Please note - for best results, this treatment should be combined with dietary changes. Consult your doctor for more information.

How do I use Uniroid-HC Suppositories?

For complete instructions, please consult your doctor or the patient information leaflet (PIL). The PIL can be viewed on the top right of this page. It will also be included in all orders.

You should combine this treatment with a diet high in fibre. You should also drink plenty of fluids.

Uniroid-HC is a short-term treatment that should not be used for more than seven days to avoid increasing your risk of developing serious side effects.

Whether you purchase the cream or suppositories, you should always wash your hands before using Uniroid, and you should ensure that the anus area is clean. Dry the area completely by patting so as not to aggravate the haemorrhoids further.

For external haemorrhoids:

  • squeeze a pea size amount onto your finger
  • spread gently over the skin
  • do not rub the ointment in
  • do not use tissue to apply Uniroid-HC ointment

For internal haemorrhoids*:

*You will have to use the applicator for internal piles.

  • clean the applicator with warm soapy water before each use
  • screw the nozzle on to the tube
  • fill the nozzle with the ointment
  • this is the correct dosage for one application
  • insert the nozzle into the anus slowly - the whole nozzle should be inside
  • squeeze the tube gently
  • withdraw the nozzle
  • wash nozzle thoroughly ready for next use

As a rule of thumb, Uniroid-HC ointment should be applied twice daily (once in the morning, once in the evening) and once after every bowel movement.

If your symptoms are very severe, you can use the ointment 3-4 times on the first day.

Uniroid can be used to treat haemorrhoids. Uniroid contains two active ingredients, hydrocortisone (for itching relief) and cinchocaine (for itching relief). Cinchocaine, an anaesthetic local to the skin, while hydrocortisone is an anti-inflammatory medication that relieves itching.

A doctor may prescribe Uniroid to treat haemorrhoids or other anal discomforts such as tears or fissures. Itching and pain in the area of the anal can be caused by haemorrhoids. In some cases, the stool may become bright red.

External haemorrhoids are haemorrhoids that extend beyond the anus are usually harmless but can cause severe discomfort. Uniroid is a medication that helps to relieve the discomfort of haemorrhoids. It also speeds up the healing process.

Uniroid HC should only be used for a week as a temporary haemorrhoid therapy. After symptoms subside, it should be used twice daily. Then, once the symptoms are gone, you can apply them again on the re-occurrence of the condition. Uniroid HC may be applied three to four times per day if you have severe symptoms.

Wash your hands thoroughly and wash the area with water before you use it. To prevent irritation, dry the area around the anus gently.

Apply a little bit of the ointment to your skin. Apply the ointment to the skin, but don't rub it in.

A nozzle is available for internal use. Attach it to the tube's top and fill it with the recommended amount. Place the tip of your nozzle in the anus and gently squeeze the tube until a little bit of ointment is out. Take the nozzle out and wash your hands with warm water.

Adults, seniors, and children older than 12 years can use the ointment two times daily, one in the morning, and one in the evening or after each stool movement, unless your doctor has instructed you otherwise.

The ointment should not be used for more than seven days. If your condition does not improve, contact your doctor.

Children under 12 years old should not use Uniroid.

Consult your doctor before taking Uniroid HC Ointment if any of the following applies to you:

If you have tuberculosis
If you have any kind of skin infection
If you are allergic to any steroids or anaesthetics, especially hydrocortisone or cinchocaine

Uniroid HC does not cause side effects for everyone, however, side effects can be experienced by some people.

Complex changes can occur in the body due to the effects on the adrenal glands. It is only a concern if Uniroid HC has been used in high doses and is regularly administered.

Talk to your doctor if you have concerns about any of these side effects or if you feel the product is affecting you in other ways.
