The active ingredient in Imigran Nasal spray is Sumatriptan. It narrows blood vessels in the brain that have become widened and provides relief from migraine attacks. Imigran Nasal Spray should be applied at the first sign of migraine headaches. You can also use it during a migraine attack. Imigran Nasal Spray should never be used before a migraine attack. It will not prevent future migraine attacks.
Spray 10-20mg into one nostril. If the medicine is ineffective, wait at least two hours before taking the second dose.
Imigran Nasal Sprays come in individual blister packs. You should not open a blister unless you are ready to use it. If your nose feels blocked, blow it out before you spray.
Your thumb should be on the blue plunger and your index and middle finger on each side of the sprayer.
Place the nozzle in one nostril, about 1 cm or 1/2 inches deep. Block the other nostril with a finger pressing down on the side.
Begin to inhale slowly through your nose and out through the mouth.
Breathe in and press the blue plunger with your thumb. Keep inhaling while it sprays.
Take out the spray and repeat with your other nostril.
For 10 seconds, breathe in slowly through your nose. After the spray, your nose might feel slightly wet. You may also notice a slight taste.
