Take Diflucan by mouth with or without a meal as directed by your doctor, usually once daily.
The dosage of this medication is based on your medical condition and response to treatment. The dosage for children is based on body weight. For children, the dose should not exceed 600 mg daily unless directed otherwise by the doctor.
Diflucan works best when the amount of medication in your body is kept at a constant level. It is recommended that Diflucan should be taken at about the same time each day.
Continue taking Diflucan until the prescribed amount is finished, even if your symptoms disappear after a few days. Stopping the medication too early may allow the fungus to continue growing, which may result in a return of the infection.
Immediately tell your doctor if your condition will persist or gets worse.
Vomiting, nausea, stomach upset or pain, diarrhoea, headaches, dizziness, or hair loss may occur when you take Diflucan. If any of the side effects worsen or persists, contact your doctor immediately.
Your doctor has prescribed Diflucan because he has deemed that the benefit to you is greater than the risk of side effects.
Get medical help right away if you experience these rare but serious side effects: fast or irregular heartbeat, fainting, or severe dizziness.
Diflucan may rarely cause serious liver disease. Get medical help immediately if you develop any symptoms of liver disease, including yellowing of the eyes/skin, severe abdominal or stomach pain, nausea or vomiting, dark urine, and unusual tiredness.
A very serious allergic reaction to this drug is rare. However, get medical help right away if you notice any symptoms of a serious allergic reaction such as rash, itching or swelling of the face, tongue, or throat, trouble breathing, or severe dizziness.
Contact your doctor if you experience any other side effects, which you believe are associated with your use of Diflucan.
Before taking Diflucan, tell your doctor if you are allergic to it, or other azole antifungal drugs, or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain some inactive ingredients that can trigger allergic reactions or cause other problems.
Before using Diflucan, tell your doctor your medical history, especially if you ever have liver or kidney disease.
Diflucan may cause a condition affecting the heart rhythm, which can rarely cause serious fast or irregular heartbeat and other symptoms that need medical attention immediately.
Although uncommon, Diflucan may make you dizzy. Consumption of alcohol or marijuana use can make you dizzier. Do not drive a vehicle, operate machinery, or do anything that requires alertness until you are sure that you can safely do it. Limit your intake of alcoholic beverages while taking Diflucan. Inform your doctor if you are using marijuana.
Tell your doctor or dentist about all the medications you are using before having surgery.
During pregnancy, use Diflucan only when it is clearly needed. Diflucan may harm an unborn baby if taken during the first trimester of pregnancy. Ask your doctor for a reliable form of birth control when using Diflucan. For the treatment of yeast infections, consider first medications that are applied in or around the vagina before considering Diflucan.
Diflucan passes into breast milk but is unlikely to harm the nursing infant. Consult your doctor before you start breastfeeding.
Drug interactions may change how your medications work or it may increase the risk for side effects.
Share with your doctor a list of all the medications you are using before you start taking Diflucan. Do not start, stop, or change the dosage of any medication without the approval of your doctor.
Clopidogrel may interact with Diflucan.
Diflucan can slow down the removal of other medications from your body, which can affect how they work. Check with your doctor how Diflucan can affect the other medications that you are currently taking.
