Two types of female hormones are found in Dianette: oestrogen as well as and anti-androgen. The oestrogen blocks the release of eggs from your ovaries. However, the anti-androgen stops hormones that stimulate hair growth as well as the grease glands within your skin.
Dianette protects women against unwanted pregnancies.
If you produce too much androgen, or if you are sensitive to the effect, the grease glands may produce too much sebum. It can block the grease glands, which can become infected and inflammation-causing acne spots. Dianette stops the androgens affecting your skin and reduces the number of androgens produced, leading to clearer skin.
To ensure that you are protected from the first Dianette pill, it is important to take the first Dianette tablet on the first day of your next period.
If you are already on a different pill and want to begin taking Dianette, you must start it the day after your last pill.
Each packet is marked with the days of the week and arrows to help users determine the best direction. The day you start taking your first pill is determined by the day of the week. If you are starting on Wednesday, then you should take the tablet in the row marked "Wed". You will need to follow the arrows and take one tablet per day until you complete the pack.
Your pill may be less effective if you miss a dose or start a strip too late. It doesn't matter if you forget to take one pill. You may not be protected from pregnancy if you miss more than one pill or start a new pack more than a day late. You should use additional contraception for the next seven days (such as condoms).
Your body might not receive the proper amount of hormones if you are sick or suffer from severe diarrhoea. You can take another Dianette pill if you feel sick within two hours.
You can delay your period by finishing the current strip of pills. The next strip should be started without the 7-day break and then continue as normal.
