Covonia Medicated Sore Throat Lozenges contain a dual-action formula to numb pain and fight infection. Ideal for treating the symptoms of a sore throat, red throat or disorders of the pharynx accompanied by irritation, they contain the active ingredients chlorhexidine dihydrochloride to fight bacteria and lidocaine hydrochloride, a local anaesthetic, to relieve pain.

Covonia Medicated Sore Throat Lozenges are sugar free so are suitable for diabetics. They are also suitable for vegetarians, vegans and coeliacs.

Covonia Medicated Sore Throat Lozenges must not be used for long periods. Consult a doctor, if your symptoms worsen or do not improve after 3 to 4 days.

The recommended dose is:
  • Adults: 6 to 10 lozenges per day. Allow the lozenge to melt in the mouth slowly.
  • Children from 12 years old: 3 to 5 lozenges per day. Allow the lozenge to melt in the mouth slowly.

  • Active Ingredients: Chlorhexidine dihydrochloride 5mg and lidocaine hydrochloride 1mg.
Other Ingredients
  • Lemon Flavour: Sorbitol (E420), magnesium stearate, aspartame (E951), lemon flavour, acesulfame K (E950).
  • Menthol Flavour: Sorbitol (E420), magnesium stearate, anhydrous citric acid (E330), levomenthol.

  • Covonia Medicated Sore Throat Lozenges Menthol Flavour contains levomenthol; be careful with young children who have a history of convulsions.
  • Covonia Medicated Sore Throat Lozenges contains sorbitol. If you have been told by your doctor that you have an intolerance to some sugars, contact your doctor before taking this medicinal product. Sorbitol may have a mild laxative effect. The calorific value is 2.6kcal/g sorbitol.
  • Covonia Medicated Sore Throat Lozenges should not be used for long periods, uninterruptedly or repeatedly. Limit the use to strictly necessary relief of pain and irritation.
  • In case of excessive dose (more than 20 lozenges per day) there is a small risk of decrease of the control over the swallowing reflex.
  • Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are using, have recently used or might use any other medicines. Do not use simultaneously with other disinfectants.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, think you might be pregnant or are planning to have a baby, ask your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine. If the all of the precautions are respected, Covonia Medicated Sore Throat Lozenges can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding.
Do not use Covonia Medicated Sore Throat Lozenges
  • If you are allergic to chlorhexidine dihydrochloride or lidocaine hydrochloride or any of the other ingredients.
  • For children younger than 12 years old.
