Adults and children 12 years of age and older - The usual dose is 200 mg twice daily. Your doctor may increase the dose as needed. The dose should not be more than 500 mg to 800 mg twice daily.
Children younger than 12 years of age - Dose is based on body weight and must be determined by the doctor. The maximum dose should not be more than 1000 mg per day.
For trigeminal neuralgia:
Adults - The usual dose is 200 mg once daily. Your doctor may increase the dose as needed and tolerated. The maximum dose should not exceed 1200 per day.
