Capasal Therapeutic Shampoo is a treatment that works for several different conditions on the scalp, including eczema, dandruff, psoriasis, and cradle cap. This shampoo works thanks to the 3 active ingredients that it contains, which are:

  • Salicylic acid
  • Coconut oil
  • Distilled coal tar

Salicylic acid removes any flaky or loose skin. Coconut oil works to soften, moisturise and lubricate the scalp. Distilled coal tar stops itching on the scalp and helps to restore normal skin cell development.

What causes dandruff?

Dandruff is a condition that is caused by skin development, where it is too fast and as a result, leaves a surplus of dead skin, which ends up on the scalp and in the hair. This can be the result of several different conditions, including:

  • Seborrhoeic dermatitis
  • Tinea capitis – A fungal infection in the scalp
  • Eczema
  • Allergic dermatitis
  • Psoriasis

Dandruff can affect anyone, but it is not contagious and not harmful. Poor hygiene is not a factor in the formation of dandruff, though it can make the condition worse.

Capasal Therapeutic Shampoo is a triple-action shampoo used to treat dry, scaly scalp conditions such as psoriasis, cradle cap, seborrhoeic dermatitis, seborrhoeic eczema and dandruff in adults, children, infants and babies.

Capasal Therapeutic Shampoo contains three active ingredients:
  • Salicylic Acid: Removes scaly, flaky skin.
  • Coconut Oil: Softens, moisturises and lubricates the scalp.
  • Distilled Coal Tar: Stops itching and restores normal skin development.
Capasal Therapeutic Shampoo can also be used to remove other medicines applied to the scalp. It is not known to affect, or to be affected by, any other medicines and can be used during pregnancy and whilst breastfeeding.

  • Use as a shampoo, daily if necessary, until your scalp condition gets better:
  • Wet the hair thoroughly.
  • Apply a small amount of shampoo to the scalp.
  • With the tips of the fingers, massage in thoroughly.
  • Leave on for a few minutes.
  • Remove as much lather as possible with the hands (this is important as it will take the scales with it).
  • Rinse out.
  • Repeat the steps above.
  • Rinse out well under running water, then dry the hair as normal.

  • Active Ingredients: Salicylic Acid 0.5% w/w, Coconut Oil 1.0% w/w and Distilled Coal Tar 1.0% w/w.
  • Other Ingredients: Lauric Acid Diethanolamide, Coco Amido Propyl Dimethyl Betaine, Triethanolamine Lauryl Sulphate, Ammonium Sulphate, Phenoxyethanol and Purified Water.

  • Keep the undiluted shampoo, and the lather, away from the eyes.
  • This product can be used during pregnancy and whilst breastfeeding. The ingredients have been in widespread use in this and similar preparations for many years, without reports of problems. However, safety trials have not been conducted.
Do not use Capasal Therapeutic Shampoo:
  • If you are allergic (hypersensitive) to salicylic acid, coconut oil, distilled coal tar or any of the other ingredients of Capasal Therapeutic Shampoo.
