UK Medication

Atrovent is used to prevent narrowing of the airways within the lungs in patients with bronchitis or emphysema or COPD.
Atrovent HFA relaxes the muscles surrounding the airways, allowing you to breathe easier.
This medication must be taken regularly to prevent the symptoms of lung disease. Atrovent is not as effective as a quick-relief or inhaler. For sudden shortness or wheezing, you can use your quick-relief Inhaler.
If you are using the inhaler for the first or third time, follow the instructions to priming it. To avoid medication getting into your eyes, keep the spray from touching your face when priming the inhaler.
Take the medication to inhale by mouth as directed by your doctor, usually four times per day. The medication can cause irritation or pain in the eyes. This medication can cause temporary blurred vision or other vision changes. Keep the medication from getting in your eyes by covering your mouth with your lips.
You should wait at least 1 minute between each puff if your dose is 2 puffs.
To prevent irritation and dryness of the throat, rinse your mouth with warm water after inhaling the medicine.
The dosage is determined by your medical condition and the response to treatment.
Once a week, rinse the mouthpiece of your inhaler with water. Let the inhaler air dry before you use it again.
It is best to take this medication at regular intervals if your doctor has instructed. You will be more likely to remember your dose if it is taken at the same time every day. You should not increase the dose or use the medication more often without consulting your doctor.
The package contains a label indicating the number of inhalations included in your inhaler. Keep track of how many inhalations you have used and toss the canister when you've finished.
If your symptoms don't improve or get worse, inform your doctor.
